Work has been identified as a major cause of ill health. workplace hazards include:

Physical hazards - noise, heat, radiation, lifting heavy objects (manual handling)

Chemical hazards - there are thousands of tocix substances used in workplaces from offices, artist's studios to mechanic workshops and foundaries.

Biological hazards - these exist commonly in health care settings where body fluids are handled, as well as environments involving animals such as abattoirs, zoos, and farming.

Psychological hazards - many workplaces are poorly organised for the work being done, o the nature of the work involves a constant threat and is thus stressfull. Increasingly, as workplaces are "downsized" (that is workers are sacked) the reamining workers are left with increased work loads and less support.
